B2 level requirements:

• You need the B2 level in writing and speaking to start a Norwegian-language study programme at a Norwegian university or college.
• You also need Norwegian skills at B2 or higher if you want to work as a health worker or nurse in Norway.

The main difference between B1 and B2:

B1 is the level you need to manage in everyday life. B2 is the level you need to study at a university or college. At the B2 level, you are expected to use the language with more control and in a more natural way, and to handle a wider range of texts.

Requirements to join: Basic Norwegian skills at the B1 level.

At the B2 level, you can:

• Understand the main content of complex or academic texts
• Understand professional discussions in your own field
• Take part in conversations with fairly natural and fluent language
• Write clear, detailed texts where you give your own arguments on a wide range of topics
• Use the language with more control and in a more natural way
• Handle a wider range of texts

Our assessment is:

• A candidate who gets the grade A at level 3 will have a level that matches CEFR level C1
• A candidate who gets the grade C at level 3 will have a level that matches B2
• A candidate who gets the grade A at level 2 will have a level that matches CEFR level B2
• A candidate who gets the grade C at level 2 will have a level that matches B1
